IVYBL Christmas tourney meeting today

Officials of the upcoming Island-wide Village Youth Basketball League Christmas Basketball Tournament are reminding all interested teams that a mandatory meeting will be held today 6pm at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium conference room.
The tournament will be held from Dec. 27 to Dec. 29, and if necessary on Dec. 30, at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium. It has slots for 10 teams.
All IVYBL rules and regulations apply such as players must be 15 years old and under and all members of the 15-player roster suiting up should play.
Teams making it to the playoffs are assured cash prizes, with the champion receiving $150, the runner-up getting $125, third place $100, and fourth place $75. Trophies will also be presented to the top teams.
In addition, a trophy and $50 will be awarded for best sportsmanship, while $25 and a trophy will be given to the most valuable player.
A banquet and awards ceremony will be held immediately after the championship game.
Interested teams must pay an entrance fee of $100 by Nov. 30, with the first 10 teams settling their payment assured of slots for the competition.
Another meeting will be held on Nov. 30, which will also serve as the deadline to submit the entrance fee, rosters, and age verification documents of all players. (Shan Seman)
