The good teams continued their run of success on Tuesday night at the Pacific Islands Club as the Hot Myx, America F@&# Yeah!, and Galuti joined Lick It, Stick It, Smack It, and Got Beer? atop the standings of the 7th Annual Miller Lite Coed Four-Person Beach Volleyball League with wins on the San Antonio sand.

The five teams all sport identical 4-1 records, and Hot Myx was the first squad to join the club despite the absence of camera-friendly captain Theo Wong and power slammer Marconi Calindas.

After taking the first set in down-the-wire fashion, 11-9, over the Eagles of Grace Christian Academy, Hot Myx turned up the heat with wins of 11-0 and 11-1 to complete the sweep of the students.

America F@&# Yeah! was on the painful end of an 11-1 pounding from Palaksi in their first set, but the leaping liberators rebounded to take the next two sets 11-6 and 11-8 with inspired play from Chris Nelson, Faheem Ebrahim, Mark McDonald, and Heather Hull.

Captain Patrick Cuffe and Miss “PICNMI” Mary Deleon Guerrero cheered their teammates from the sidelines as they rallied through the rain to win in the name of freedom.

Galuti was the third of the three to reach the top spot when they sent Namete to the Under-.500 Club by taking two of three matches in the final contest of the night.

Galuti took the opener with relative ease, 11-6, but Namete turned the tables in the second to even the match at a set apiece with an 11-5 win. Unfortunately for fire-dancing footballer Max Kuan and company, Namete was unable to stoke the flames of momentum and fell to Galuti in the clincher, 11-5.

One of the league’s most underrated teams evened its record at 2-2 as You’re My Boy Blue! dispatched the Dolphins of Marianas High School in straight sets, 11-7, 11-5, and 12-10. The persevering porpoises were precluded from any points in the set race, and the losses by both MHS and GCA allowed the Sugoi Seven to rise through the ranks as the top of the bottom feeders. The Seven currently lead the 0-5 triumvirate with four sets won to the students’ three, but there are still plenty of games remaining in the season for them to catch up.
