Pacific Trading pledges support for Little League
Hours after the Saipan Little League Baseball Association received a pledge of support from Microl Toyota for the 2006 season, their board members got another member of the local business community on their team, as Pacific Trading Co. general manager Charles Cepeda announced that his company would supply the trophies for all of the leagues that fall under the local organization’s umbrella.
“Every time we come here asking for help for the Little League, Charles is always willing to lend a hand to help us out. The league is so proud that Charles and Pacific Trading are shouldering the trophies for the 2006 season,” said recently elected SLLBA President Mike Borja.
Cepeda made the announcement from his crowded office as board members squeezed in to hear the good news in person.
“PTC has always been supporting the Saipan Little League, but it’s good to be back being one of the corporate sponsors again…more importantly it’s the kids. The trophies that we’re providing, I hope that they appreciate it and cherish it for a long time,” he said.
The last time that PTC provided the trophies the company spent nearly $7,000, and that figure is expected to rise with the addition of the girls’ softball league and the tee-ball program.
“It’s been fulfilling to hand [the trophies] out to the kids. It’s one of the cherished moments—seeing all of the teams when they come out to start the season, but more importantly at the end when they’re getting their trophies and individual awards they’re all excited for all of the hard work they put in,” said Cepeda.
Borja beamed from ear to ear after getting the good news and thanked Cepeda and PTC for their contribution to the SLLBA and for all that they have done to support the kids throughout the years.
“It’s a wonderful gesture to the community by Pacific Trading helping out the youth program and not just the Little League,” said Borja.
According to Borja, the SLLBA is always looking to enter into partnerships with members of the local businesses community, and those interested in supporting the kids on and off the field can contact him by calling 322-9889.
