Exotic Minis proclaimed as Car Club of the Year
Exotic Minis was proclaimed the overall 2005 Island Auto Show Car Club of the Year at the parking lot of the Chamolinian Cultural Village Saturday night.
The car club had the largest number of entries in the auto show (22), but only seven of the vehicles actually vied in the competitive categories.
President Melvin Ada said six of their members entered six vehicles for the advanced category and one for the female category.
Ada said they joined this year’s auto show to give the CNMI community an idea what the group is all about and what it is actually doing.
Aside from Exotic Minis, other car clubs that joined the successful auto show were Extreme Level, Zen Ryoku, Built-2-Impress, and Project among others.
Winners for the Advance Category were: Manny Ada, 1st place; Michael Diaz, 2nd place; and Melvin Ada, third place. In the Extreme category, car enthusiast Sang Kim won by default. Hottest Female Ride winners were: Caroline Ermitano, 1st place; Betty Ann Cabrera, 2nd place; and Nicole Sablan, 3rd place winner.
For the trucks and Sports Utility Vehicle category, winners were Rodel Capati, 1st place; Jonathan Cabrera, 2nd place; and Angelo Camacho, 3rd place. Best in Show was awarded to Caroline Ermitano.
Power 99 and The Rock organized the event.
Sales manager Tina Palacios said the auto show aimed to provide the youth an avenue “to show off their pride and joy.”
Sorensen Pacific Broadcasting office manager Leonard Morales said that, apart from the car show, the Saturday event also showcased some fun games and a show. The guests and visitors were invited to join a slam dunk competition, hotdog-eating and dance contests.
One of the highlights of the auto show was a wet T-shirt dance contest. The auto show ended around midnight.
All winners in the competition received cash and gift certificates from 3A’s Polyshine. Other sponsors during the event were Shell Marianas, SaipanCell, Triple J Five Star Wholesale, Department of Public Works, Department of Public Safety, Marianas Visitors Authority, Office of the Governor, Marianas Public Land Authority, Commonwealth Utilities Corporation, Department of Community and Cultural Affairs, Carolinian Affairs Office, Northern Islands Mayor’s Office, Budget Car Rental of Micronesia, Mega Byte Computer Sales and Service, Car Clubs of Saipan, and the Chamolinian Cultural Village.
