Police arrested a 25-year-old woman and her boyfriend Thursday for allegedly attacking her own mother and threatening to kill the latter and her family.

Zinita Arlene Cabrera John and 29-year-old Jack Ngiraibuuch also allegedly threatened to burn the house of her mom. One of the two suspects also kicked the stomach of John’s pregnant sister, Joanne Cabrera, police said.

It appeared that John and Ngiraibuuch might be hooked on illegal drugs, with police disclosing that operatives recovered two sticks of marijuana from the defendants’ car.

In an affidavit submitted to the Superior Court, police detective Andrea C. Ozawa said John and her mom had an argument after the latter told the former to have her boyfriend clean up his mess at the house. John allegedly said that her mother did not like her boyfriend and began throwing things inside the mom’s house.

Ozawa said the defendants hit the mother’s head with a picture frame; the daughter then pushed the mother, while the boyfriend threatened to kill the latter by getting a kitchen knife and making stabbing motions to the victim’s chest while she was holding her three-year-old daughter.

“The victim was holding her youngest daughter at that time and she believes that was why she was not stabbed. The victim ran into her room with her youngest daughter and locked the door,” Ozawa stated in an affidavit.

The defendants allegedly followed the victim, kicking and hammering the door.

“The younger daughter asked the victim if they were going to die. The victim was scared for herself and her youngest daughter. The victim picked up her youngest daughter and ran out of her room to the door leading outside,” Ozawa said.

The detective said the defendants continued to break things inside the house. Before the defendants left, they allegedly threatened to kill the mother and her husband, as well as the youngest daughter, and then burn the house.

One of the defendants also allegedly kicked Joanne Cabrera, who was in the final stages of her pregnancy, upon arrival at the scene.

Police arrived later to investigate the mother’s complaint. While officers were conducting the probe at the scene, the defendants came back to the site and were arrested.
