DPS sobriety checkpoints next week

The Department of Public Safety will be conducting sobriety checkpoints in different locations on Saipan on Tuesday and Friday next week.

On Tuesday, Oct. 25, DPS will have a sobriety checkpoint on 16 Highway Chalan Kiya by the CUC Waterloo from 8pm to 9:15pm. It will be followed by another setup on Beach Road Chalan Laulau by Char’s store from 10:30pm to 11:45pm.

On Thursday, Oct. 28, DPS will resume its sobriety checkpoints, first on Beach Road Garapan by Bank Pacific from 8pm to 9:15pm. It will be followed by another setup on 2W Highway Chalan Laulau by Verizon from 10:30pm to 11:45pm. Each sobriety checkpoint would last at least an hour and 15 minutes.

In addition to the sobriety checkpoints, DPS traffic officers will be conducting highway criminal interdictions, saturation patrols, aggressive driver interdictions, and laser activities.
