Nick Guerrero is home makeover winner
Nick Guerrero “Tindin” of Garapan will soon have all the incandescent lamps at his home replaced with compact fluorescent light bulbs after he won the first-ever CFL home makeover.
On Monday, Oct. 17, Chris Reolope, store manager of YCO Do-It-Best Hardware in Chalan Piao, together with Energy Director Thelma B. Inos, pulled Guerrero’s name as the lucky winner for the CFL home makeover, where he will see a decrease in his utility bill.
Last Friday, Guerrero was at the Commonwealth Utilities Corp. Dandan Branch to pay for his utility bill and inquired about the “BOGO” buy one, get one free CFL promotion. After seeing the light bulb wattage comparison kit, he purchased 8 CFLs. He immediately went home to change the incandescent bulbs to the energy savings bulbs with what he bought. He did not have enough energy savings bulbs to replace all the inefficient bulbs, but now as the winner of the CFL makeover, he is able to replace every single bulb.
“I’m glad that I have all the energy savings bulbs in my house and can start saving on my utility bill,” he said.
The CFL Home Makeover Drawing is part of the Energy Star® Awareness Project (funded by U.S. Department of Energy, State Energy Program) and also the National Change a Light, Change the World Campaign, Energy Star campaign where we ask all CNMI residents to pledge to change one light at home to energy efficient lighting. Collectively, this simple change can make a big difference because nearly 20 percent of household electricity use goes to lighting.
Throughout October, in conjunction with the Energy Awareness Month, if you purchase any Energy Star-labeled CFL at any YCO True Value or Do-It-Best Hardware, you will be given an entry form for the CFL home makeover drawing. A second drawing will be at the held on Monday, Oct. 31, 2005 at the YCO True Value Hardware in Garapan.
The Energy Division in partnership with YCO True Value and Do-It-Best Hardware sponsored the CFL Home Makeover Raffle.
