Palaksi all alone at PIC
The pummeling powers of Palaksi extended their unbeaten streak to four games to move to the top of the standings with a convincing win over You’re My Boy Blue in continuation of the 7th Annual Miller Lite Coed Four-Person Beach Volleyball League on Thursday night at the Pacific Islands Club.
After rocketing out to take the first set from the Blue crew, 11-1, Palaksi stumbled in the second and dropped an 11-6 decision, but they quickly rebounded with an 11-3 triumph in the clincher.
Aside from the standings, the win also Palaksi vaulted to the top of the scorers race with 127 points for and 10 sets won while surrendering only 64 points for an average of 5.3 per set. With the most wins and points of any squad in the league, Palaksi has an early advantage with a 4-0 record, but their competition kept their lead in check as Galuti dispatched Lick It, Stick It, Smack It to improve its record to 3-0.
Much in the same fashion as Palaksi, Galuti galloped to an early advantage by taking the first set, 11-6, before surrendering the second 11-1. After rallying the troops, the G-Men returned to the court to rebound in the rubber match to come out on the winning side of an 11-4 score.
Galuti climbed into second place with the win, but even if they take all three sets in their next outing they still trail Palaksi in the points race. Scoring points was not a problem for Pugua Time!, as they pounded the kids from Saipan International School in three sets, 11-8, 11-4, and 11-6.
By the time the final point was scored, the students came out with a loss, yet despite the sweep they were in each set of the contest. The same could be said for the Hot Myx, who bowed when Puff came to shove as Quincy Johnson and Puff, Puff, Pass took the first two sets and the game from the jump.
After eking out an 11-8 win in the first, tragedy was not averted as Puff, Puff, Pass rolled the Myx in the second 11-6 before dropping the third set, 11-7. Namete didn’t enjoy the same swift success as the Dolphins of Marianas High School took their contest down to the wire.
Though Namete more than doubled up on the students in the first set, 11-5, the best of MHS pulled out an 11-8 squeaker to knot the match at one apiece. Despite the setback, Namete didn’t suffer defeat as they tallied another 11-5 score in the final set to earn another win.
Action continues tonight at 5:30pm as another 10 teams go hand to hand in the sand at PIC.
