HAGÅTÑA, Guam—The Guam International Airport Authority will host ‘Blast Off’—a National Aeronautics and Space Administration exhibit from Oct. 22 through Dec. 31, 2005. ‘Blast Off’ is free to the public and will be on display daily from 8am to 2pm beginning Saturday, Oct. 22. The exhibit hopes to spark imagination and raise awareness about careers in space travel, aviation and transportation.

The ‘Blast Off’ exhibit hosts a wealth of space education. No need to board the Space Shuttle to see how it feels like to be on the moon! On display are space artifacts and space flight hardware, including a Moon rock sample, NASA Space Suit, NASA Launch and Entry Suit, freeze-dried space food and meal tray, and Space Shuttle tiles, to name a few. Whether it be on a field trip or a family outing, the exhibit is a must-see for island residents young and old.

“The exhibit is quite an exciting one,” said Rolenda Lujan Faasuamalie, GIAA’s marketing administrator. “We pursued the exhibit after finding out that Chicago O’Hare International Airport exhibited NASA items that proved to be a success. We knew our community would enjoy this exhibit and benefit from the educational aspect.”

GIAA and NASA hope to inspire a new generation of explorers. This extraordinary exhibit gives audiences an opportunity to experience past discoveries and future destiny in space.
