Three win three at PIC
Ten teams braved high winds and driving rains at the Pacific Islands Club on Tuesday night in the name of love as the 7th Annual Miller Lite Coed Four-Person Volleyball League coursed through the waters like a tiny tug in a tsunami.
Three teams continued their push for perfection as Palaksi, America F@&# Yeah!, and Lick It, Stick It, Smack It each notched their third wins of the season unfettered by conditions termed lightly as less than ideal on the rain- soaked sand.
America F@&# Yeah! was the first of the three beaters to reach the mark when they schooled the Eagles of Grace Christian Academy by taking the best-of-three in the worst of the weather.
After taking the first set 11-6, America F@&# Yeah! said F@&# No! as the Eagles took the second set in extra points, 12-10. Rather than suffer defeat at the hands of the students, the righteous Americans rallied to bag the clincher, 11-4.
Lick It, Stick It, Smack It was the next to win it when they rebounded from an opening 11-7 loss to the Sugoi Seven to sweep the next two 11-3 and 11-7. Nick Castro was in fine form during the storm and captain Rachel Bandelin provided the spark in the dark to extend their streak to three.
Palaksi was the final team to gleam in the extreme as they smoked Puff, Puff, Pass in the final two sets 11-3 and 11-5 before packing up and going home.
While they are still behind the top three titans of the town, Galuti put on a clinic for the kids from Saipan International School in a three-set sweep to extend their record to 2-0. After opening with a stunning 11-0 smoker, Galuti hung on to take the final two sets 11-7 and 11-9 to get out with a flawless six sets won on the season.
In the only remaining game of the night, the good news cup runneth over for Got Beer? as they kicked Aschaabw to the curb 11-7, 11-0, and 11-8 to improve their record to 2-1.
