Hunter joins Blanco at the top

After a quick preview of the local contingent, it’s hard to fathom why only the Lil’ Mahi opted to go with Pittsburgh over San Diego. While the Lightning Bolts were able to pound the injury riddled Pats in New England, they will face a decidedly different opponent when they host the Steelers. Jerome Bettis is back in service, and since this is probably his last season, it’s no secret that his teammates are tying to get the big guy a Super Bowl ring.

The loss of Patriot-ism continued with the exodus from the island of Brady as all but first place Will Hunter give the Falcons the edge at home in the Georgia Dome.

Another shocker is that everyone went with my Bills at home over the Dolphins. Few husbands feel the same animosity toward their mother-in-laws as I do toward the dreaded fish from Florida, but with coach Mike Mularkey benching J.P. Losman in favor of Kelly Holcomb and Takeo Spikes out for the season, even a biased fan such as my self can see that the Bills are on the verge of 1-4 record. Sorry guys.

One thing that was not surprising at all is that the Lil’ Mahi threw all caution to the wind and selected the Arizona Cardinals over the Super Bowl bound Carolina Panthers. The truth is that he took my advice last week by opting for the 49ers to pluck the red birds in Mexico City, but I was way off as San Fran was on the hurtin’ end of a 31-14 score. Sorry kiddo, but I’d pick it the same way again today, and you should too.

While the Lil’ Mahi is wasting his pick with the Cardinals again, John Blanco enjoyed a strong 11-3 finish to maintain his first place rank, but Hunter did him one better at 12-2 by picking Washington over Seattle to tie him in the top spot at 40-20 overall.

Not too far behind is the VIP from the PIC, as Jon Cramer finished 11-3 to improve his mark to 37-23. Cramer has yet to miss on his Guaranteed Pick of the Week, but he put his 4-0 mark on the line by taking the Bills.

After starting out strong, Rich Brooks has regressed to last season’s form with a .500 record, but at 30-30 he still has a chance with 13 weeks left. Brooks may have slipped a bit, but he still has a five-game cushion separating him from the Lil’ Mahi at 25-35.
