Lick It, Stick It, Smack It wins it again
Rachel Bandelin and her band of merry men and women continued their winning ways as Lick It, Stick It, Smack It notched its second win of the 7th Annual Miller Lite Coed Four-Person Volleyball League.
Led by local leaping legend Nan Intharaluk, Lick It, Stick It, Smack It sweep to victory over the unsuspecting squad from Saipan International School in straight sets, 11-2, 11-9, and 11-3.
The youngsters fell to 0-1, but despite their winless ways, they are not in last place as the Sugoi Seven filled that slot on Tuesday night after succumbing to the will of John Cramer and Got Beer? in three sets of futility.
After dropping a closely contested first set, the Sugoi Seven were swamped by the super serving Scott Eck, 11-1. Eck was on fire from the back court as he launched a campaign of shock and awe against the Seven in the clincher.
Cramer and Eck were joined on the court by the agile Amanda Sparkman and rowdy Roberto Reyes, and proved that they can win without Bruce “Spruce” Berline.
At 1-1, Got Beer? currently holds on eighth place, and they look to improve the bottom rung of the advancing tree while the Sugoi Seven can only improve.
The list of undefeated teams grew by two as both Namete and Galuti brought their brooms to the sand courts of the Pacific Islands Club for use in their one-sided victories.
Daryl Atalig and Max Kuan teamed up to pummel Puff, Puff, Pass by a combined score of 33-16, but Quincy Johnson and company look to be a much stronger squad than the score.
Puff, Puff, Pass was lost in a cloud of smoke in the absence of inspirational striker Izumi Kawakami, but relied on rookie sensation Yooksung Sohn to carry the load until she returns next week.
Galuti wrapped up the night of sweeps by taking it to Pugua Time!, as many were shocked to see Jess Palacios and the G-men pull off the upset. The first set went down to the wire as Galuti edged Pugua Time! in extra points, 12-10.
Taula Peter was unable to turn his nuts around in the second set as Pugua Time! was whitewashed 11-0 in the clincher. Marino Pungilug and Kadya Peter finally got the ball rolling in the third set, but it was not enough as Galuti took the third set to notch their first win.
All of the high flying action at the beach continues today at 5:30pm with another round of five games as four of the undefeated teams look to pull even with Lick It, Stick It, Smack It.
