Hiroshima TV program to feature Marianas
An eight-man film crew from Hiroshima, Japan is on island to capture attractive images that the island offers and then use them in a popular program called “Mezamashi-TV Wagamama! Kimamama! Tabi-kibun.”
Of the TV crew, there are two female cast members—Akiho Sendo and Eriko Mikami. Sendo, who is familiar with the Marianas, will be featured as the tour guide, while Mikami is the TV host for the program.
The program features destinations and targets all ages of both genders, and is viewed by over five million households.
TV Shin-Hiroshima (TSS) Network will broadcast the program in five stations across the Chugoku-Shikoku area in Japan with BS FUJI broadcasting all over the country on Nov. 5 and 6, 2005.
“The MVA is working with our tourism partners on island to strengthen our presence in Japan through various television opportunities. Continental Airlines and tourism industry members are supporting this program to expand our reach in Japan,” said MVA acting managing director Martin Duenas.
Continental Airlines currently services eight cities from Japan to Guam. The MVA is working on developing package tours to the CNMI via Guam with Continental Airlines.
“The current situation facing the CNMI is lack of air seats. We are working hand in hand with Continental Airlines’ sales staff from these cities to generate traffic to the CNMI. The MVA is also working with local tour operators to develop these packages and promote the destination in these cities,” said Duenas.
The TV crew from Hiroshima will be on island until today, Oct. 6.
The total exposure the CNMI will receive from this program is estimated around $688,000. Accommodations are provided by the Aqua Resort Club, while MVA is coordinating the ground and logistical support required for a successful shoot.
Other MVA members supporting the TV crew are Tasi Tours, Tinian Dynasty Hotel and Casino, Chamolinian Cultural Village, Coffee Care, DFS Galleria, and Dai-Ichi Hotel Saipan Beach. (PR)
