PIC gears up for fall-ball
Leaping legends and weekend wailers are just a few hours away from joining their new team members as the Pacific Islands Club is all set to serve up the 7th Annual Miller Lite Coed Four-Person Volleyball League.
The action will start in just a couple of days, but before the first serve crosses the net the teams will be formed tonight during the pre-season banquet draft at the PIC at 6pm. All players interested must be present or have signed up and paid prior to opening night to the festivities.
When the teams are finalized and the schedules doled out, the four games consisting of three sets up to 11 points apiece will be played each night on Tuesdays and Thursdays between the hours of 5pm and 10pm. Each seven-member team will field four players at a time, with one bumper, setter, or spiker being a female.
According to PIC Sports, Entertainment, and Activities director Jon Cramer, the length of the season will depend on the number of teams entered into the league this Thursday, but he said that he expects it will last roughly eight weeks.
The cost to participate in the season is $25 per person, and only $20 for members of the Northern Mariana Islands Volleyball Association. Participants also get to receive the added benefits of $10 PIC Waterpark passes throughout the season, a league T-shirt, and a discount on Pacific Trading Co. products at PIC anytime while the league is in progress.
Though the details are yet to be released, players can come to the PIC on designated evenings for practice.
