Drinking party allegedly turns into machete chase
A merry round of drinking turned sour for one man when he had to fend off an alleged machete attack and dog bites in the wee hours of the morning Saturday in Chalan Lau Lau.
The 42-year-old victim, whom the Department of Public Safety opted not to name, called 911 at 1:50am to report the incident.
He alleged that he was at a friend’s house drinking alcohol with friends when the happy hour unexpectedly turned into a heated argument with the suspect.
DPS spokeswoman Catherine Sheu said the victim told her that the unidentified male suspect had tried to hit the victim with a blunt machete to end the argument.
The victim told police that he ran away as fast as he could to avoid the attacker. The victim ended up at the nearby J’s Restaurant where he got hold of a landline phone and dialed 911 for police assistance.
Sheu said the man told the police that while he was running away, a dog chased him and bit him on the leg.
Sheu said emergency medical staff arrived at the restaurant that morning to treat the victim’s leg; the man refused further treatment.
She said no arrest has been made and that the Criminal Investigation Bureau is still looking into the case.
