Revised Rotary scheduled released
After two weeks of silence due to unavailability of the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium, the 2005 Saipan Rotary Summer Youth Basketball League will get back on track as league officials have already revised the regular season schedule.
Action resumes tomorrow with one game as the Bwibwiis take on the Garapan Rollers III at 5:30pm.
Two games will be played on Tuesday featuring the two undefeated teams in the 18-and-under league.
Kicking off the evening are the Southern Sonics, who will put their spotless 4-0 win-loss record on the line against Luis Reyes and the Chalan Kanoa Saints at 5:30pm.
Coach Joe Diaz will try to do the same with his G-Rollers I crew as the team tries to extend their win streak against the San Antonio Sixers II at 7:30pm.
The Sonics and G-Rollers I were originally scheduled to battle last Sept. 8, but their bout was postponed and rescheduled due to Typhoon Nabi. The two have more time to prepare for each other as they are scheduled to bang heads on Oct. 27.
Meanwhile, Toyota Camry will try to go above the .500 mark on Wednesday as they square up against the young Capitol Breeze at 5:30pm.
The Rotary week concludes with powerhouse San Antonio Sixers I battling the G-Rollers II at 5:30pm on Thursday, with the Sonics following against fellow powerhouse San Antonio at 7:30pm.
Including next week, the league’s regular season still has eight more weeks of play before the 13 participating teams duke it out in the playoffs, expected to begin in November.
The league also postponed several other games due to heavy rain as water continuously leaked into the Ada Gym, posing as a hazard to any who steps foot on the court.
Other leagues that are expected to resume play are the 2005 MDX Amateur Radio Club Inter-color Basketball League, which featured play yesterday and today, and the 2005 Budweiser Cup BANMI Men’s Island-wide Basketball League, which resumes action this Monday after the Rotary game.
