CRM revokes sports firm’s permit
The Coastal Resources Management office has revoked the operating permit of a marine sports and recreation company for non-compliance with the agency’s permitting regulations.
Ben-ki Marine Sports failed to comply with a CRM notice in July that warned it for non-submission of a valid business license for its marine sports operations. The operation permit is for the marine sports activities of the firm and its banana boat operations.
CRM director Jack Salas said the marine sports company failed to submit its business license and the agency issued a warning notice to it on July 22 this year. He said the warning notice clearly ordered Ben-Ki Marine Sports to cease all operation until it is in full compliance of the warning notice.
Salas said the company was given 30 days to comply with the warning notice or else their operation of both marine sports activities would be permanently terminated.
The CRM office held a routine inspection on Aug. 17 and discovered that the marine sports company has been operating the banana boat within the Tanapag lagoon. He said video images during their operations were also taken as evidence.
Salas said the company clearly failed to comply with the July 22 warning notice and continued to ignore and violate the warning notice by not stopping the operation.
The firm is given an option to file a request for an enforcement hearing. Should the marine sports firm opt for a hearing, it must write and submit the request within 30 days of receiving the notice since last week. Failure to submit for this request would mean a waiver of defense and the right to an Enforcement Hearing, said Salas.
