The Water Task Force announced this week that drilling of the well located across Kagman Elementary School is now completed.

The well was tested and it yielded a sustainable rate of 52 gallons per minute or 75,000 gallons per day of additional water.

“Field measurements made during the test indicated the water is of very good quality,” said WTF hydrologist Charlie Ewart.

Water samples collected from the well were sent to a contract laboratory in California to determine if it meets EPA standards for drinking water. The results, which are expected to be issued early next month, will then be submitted to DEQ.

“The Water Task Force anticipates that this analysis will show that the water is acceptable as a potable supply,” Ewart added.

Once certified as a potable supply, the water generated from the well will give additional supply of water in the Kagman area especially those in higher elevation.

The drilling of the well started in early August. A second drilling operation in the area is now ongoing.

Since the Water Task Force began identifying areas for sources of water, a total of 18 new wells have already yielded good quality water while others are being tested. (PR)
