The eight-volume set, Oral Histories of the Northern Marianas Islands: Political Life and Development, is now available for in-house use at the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library.

The set is part of the many local history materials donated on behalf of the CNMI Historic Preservation Office by director Epiphanio Cabrera Jr.

The volumes contain interviews of 136 people giving oral accounts of political developments in the NMI after World War II. The interviews were collected and compiled by Howard P. Willens and Deanne C. Siemer and include a compact disk with PDF files of the interviews. These files may be used in the Library’s Information Technology section, which has been recently upgraded with new computers.

The library invites interested library and ITC patrons to make use of the newly acquired oral histories. For more information, call the library at (670) 235-7322.
