Two cases of assault and battery were reported in two different locations on Saipan last Sunday.

According to Department of Public Safety public information officer Sgt. Catherine Sheu, the DPS learned about the first incident at 10:57pm, when it received a call from the complainant, a 47-year-old Asian male, who filed assault and battery charges.

The police immediately went to the scene, where the complainant was waiting and told them he was at the Korus Tour Office when he and another man got into an argument.

He said that, during the course of the argument, the suspect suddenly punched him in the face. The complainant further stated that they both struggled with each other and that the suspect fled the scene.

In a similar case, a 33-year-old Asian male called 911 at 11:31pm on the same night, filing another complaint. Sheu said initial preliminary report points to the victim being at the Phillit’s Corporation located in Chalan Kiya.

The victim told the police that he and the suspect got into an argument over money and during the course of the argument the suspect punched him in the face.

Sheu said there were no arrests made in both cases and that both are still being investigated by the Criminal Investigation Bureau. Upon completion of the investigation the cases will be forwarded to the Attorney General’s Office for final review and disposition of the matter.
