Police collared group of teenagers on Tinian who had allegedly burglarized the Tinian Aging Center, stealing equipment and cash.

Department of Public Safety spokesman Eric David said lawmen caught the three suspects Monday, following the issuance of arrest warrants by Superior Court judge Kenneth Govendo.

The suspects, who are all Tinian residents, have ages 14, 15 and 16. Police did not release their identities.

The suspects allegedly stole computer speakers and $378 in cash from the Aging Center, whose staff discovered the burglary on June 8.

Citing results of an investigation conducted by detective Mel Monkoya, David said the three boys also burglarized the T-Mart store across the Aging Center on the same day.

The suspects allegedly stole money, cigarettes and phone cards from the cashier’s counter and consumed some beverages.

This comes amid a string of school burglaries allegedly perpetrated by students on Saipan, the most recent of which were the incidents at the Dandan Elementary School and Hopwood Junior High School.

No suspect has been arrested yet in connection with these burglaries. David said investigations on these cases remain ongoing.

David urged anyone who might have any information on the suspects in the school burglaries to call Crime Stoppers at 234-7272 or the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 664-9042.

Over the weekend, unidentified burglars barged inside 13 classrooms at the Dandan Elementary School, the fourth Saipan school to be burglarized in a span of less than a month. School officials reported no losses.

Unidentified burglars went inside the Hopwood Junior High School last June 12 and stole three computer laptops and a digital camera. Investigation showed that the suspects even found time to cook food. The suspects burglarized five rooms, including the old and new libraries, cafeteria, computer laboratory and special education room.

The Marianas High School and Kagman High School were also robbed of valuables and equipment on June 1 and May 28. The schools’ own students allegedly perpetrated the burglaries. It added that the Kagman High School burglars even set fire to the school’s Environmental Science and Oceanography Room.
