Students enjoy free training at the library
Students are learning more about Microsoft applications in a free training being held at the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library.
The public library is conducting the Kid’s Summer Office program, a training program that aims to enhance the students’ skills and knowledge on Microsoft applications such as MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Access, said ITC coordinator Roy Rechebei.
Rechebei said the training is for free and is now on its fourth day of session for the week. He said the library currently has eight students for the first batch.
Rechebei said the training program is the first attempt of the public library to focus on word processing applications.
He said the computer camp would be held weekly but would skip next week to recruit more participants. He said the training aims to help the students produce power presentations, homework, and assignments.
Although participation is being limited, Rechebei is still inviting junior and high school students to join the program, sessions are held at the public library from Monday to Friday, 9:30am to 12pm only.
At the end of each training week, Rechebei said they would select the best-produced presentation, which will be included in an upcoming project of the library.
Rechebei said the training program is also open to students preparing to enter the Northern Marianas College. He said the training would be conducted until the end of July.
Public library director Kevin Latham said the program will hopefully improve the computer skills of students. He said certificates would be given to successful trainees.
For further information, the public could contact Rechebei at 235-7312 and he would be glad to respond to queries and clarifications.
