A Filipino mason based on Rota is facing possible deportation after the Attorney General’s Office initiated removal proceedings against him.

Rogelio O. Borinaga has been allegedly overstaying in the CNMI without lawful immigration status.

Assistant attorney general Ian M. Catlett said Borinaga’s latest working permit expired on Aug. 20, 2002.

Based on an investigation conducted by Immigration investigator Theodore M. Manglona, it was allegedly found that Borinaga has no pending renewal or new application for employment with the Department of Labor, nor does he have any pending labor complaint.

The investigator also said that Borinaga does not have a temporary work authorization or any pending application for consensual transfer.

Catlett asked the Superior Court for an order directing Borinaga to show cause why he should not be deported from the CNMI.

Associate Judge Juan T. Lizama ordered Borinaga to appear before the Rota Superior Court on July 15 to explain why he should not be deported.
