Child health survey starts

All parents are being encouraged to let their children participate in a nutrition and healthy survey that started yesterday and will be conducted across the Commonwealth until Saturday.

A team from the University of Hawaii, Northern Marianas College-Cooperative Research Education Extension Services and the Department of Public Health will be visiting the communities of Dandan, Koblerville, San Vicente, San Roque, Tanapag, Capital Hill; San Jose, Tinian; and Songsong, Rota.

The survey, called Healthy Living in the Pacific Islands Child Survey, began yesterday and will continue until July 2, from 8am to 4:30pm on Mondays to Fridays, and 8am to12 noon on Saturday.

Team members will randomly selecting households to participate in the survey. Children who participate will have their height and weight check, a small finger prick blood test, which will test for anemia and cholesterol. A dental assistant will check their teeth and parents will be asked about what their child ate and some questions about the household
