Youth Conservation Program at the American Memorial Park
The National Park Service announces that American Memorial Park will be participating in the Youth Conservation Corps Program once again.
The YCC Program provides young adults an opportunity to assist on preservation projects, vegetation management, grounds maintenance, trail rehabilitation, and exposes them to the environmental work that the National Park Service conducts.
“This program allows youths a great opportunity to learn about the National Park Service and our efforts in preserving and protecting this unique site,” said site manager Chuck Sayon.
Due to the public’s interest in this program last year, the Park will recruit islandwide. The YCC Program is for young men and women between the ages of 15 through 18 only. Up to six enrollees may be hired this summer. Participants are paid the federal minimum wage of $5.15 per hour, for 40 hours per week.
The YCC employment is by random selection from all applications received by close of business May 27, 2005. American Memorial Park will conduct the YCC Program for eight weeks from June 6 to July 30, 2005.
Applications can be obtained at the American Memorial Park. For further information contact 234-7207. To learn more about the American Memorial Park, log on to www.nps.gov/amme.
