Asia Pacific Hotels Inc. has appointed Jeffrey W. Schweizer as general manager for the new Fiesta Resort Guam. The 318-room resort, formerly known as the Guam Dai-ichi Hotel, is scheduled to re-open on Sept. 1, 2005.

Schweizer has spent much of his 25-year career in the hospitality business and has extensive experience in various aspects of room operations and food and beverage management.

Prior to joining Fiesta Resort Guam, Schweizer was with the Pacific Islands Club Guam where he served as the executive assistant manager of the Rooms Division and Director of Food and Beverage. His experience also includes being director of Food & Beverage for the Hilton Hotel in Wilmington, Delaware; and restaurant and hotel management in Florida.

Schweizer will be providing the leadership to the Fiesta Resort Guam team as it moves toward giving the historic beachfront landmark a new identity.

“I am excited to take on the challenge of repositioning and reopening this brand new product for Guam. Our goal is to create a preferred hotel, delivering true hospitality and value to our guests. I look forward to working with and learning from the entire team at Asia Pacific Hotels,” said Schweizer.

The 336-room Guam Dai-Ichi Hotel is a landmark of Guam’s tourism industry, having first opened in 1970 on the white sands of Tumon Bay. Incorporated in 2002, Asia Pacific Hotels is the owning company of the Fiesta Resort Guam, formerly Guam Dai-Ichi Hotel, Dai-Ichi Hotel Saipan Beach, Saipan Grand Hotel and Century Hotel.

APHI is a subsidiary of Tan Holdings Corp., which acquired the Guam Dai-ichi Hotel in May of 2002. The hotel group also owns the Dai-ichi Hotel Saipan Beach, Saipan Grand Hotel and Century Hotel on Saipan. Tan Holdings Corp. is a diverse holding company that owns leading companies in more than a dozen industries in the Western Pacific. (PR)
