There’s a new watering hole in town and it’s called The Godfather’s Bar.

Lest you think that that’s where the island’s mafiosos gather, the name is actually taken from the movie made famous by Marlon Brando and Al Pacino—a film that is a runaway favorite by the company’s president, Scott Dottino according to his wife, Lovely.

Formerly called the Beefeater Club, the place has been completely renovated, the ambiance reflecting a pastiche of influences that range from Italian to island tropical to hippy culture—all creating a very relaxed and laidback atmosphere that is perfect for guests who want to wind down after a hectic day at work.

The easygoing air is reflected in the booths, which is perfect for groups of friends who just want to sit down, drink a few beers, and shoot the breeze. Bartender Malou Santos is also always ready to whip up your favorite mixed drink, with the bar carrying both domestic and imported beers, wines, tequilas, and most of everybody’s favorite drinks.

For those who are in a competitive mood, they can play a round of billiards or try their hand at the electronic dartboards. One can even check their e-mails as The Godfather’s Bar offers free Internet service for its guests.

Lovely said the menu is also quite eclectic, catering to a wide variety of tastes, from sumptuous pizzas to delicate sushi, to-die-for quesadillas and crispy nachos. These are on top of the Lunch Specials from Mondays to Fridays, which are priced at $7.95 only.

Scott said their specialty are the homemade New York-style pizzas, which are baked from scratch using the freshest possible ingredients. At $12 for a 15” pie and $2 per slice, the Godfather’s pizza gives guests more bang for their buck. And on Friday nights, one can have this specialty at $1 a slice.

And for the girls, Wednesday night is Ladies’ Night, with Ladies’ Drinks on special from 8pm to 12 midnight.

As if that weren’t enough, Friday nights are also The Big Beats’ nights, with the island’s most famous band taking center stage at The Godfather’s Bar.

The Godfather’s Bar is located behind Johnny’s Bar and Grill in Garapan and opens at 11:30am for patrons who want to eat lunch and stays open until 2am. For more information, call the bar at 235-2333.
