MIFICPA elects officers

Micronesian Brokers Inc. comptroller Mar Marcelino was elected president of the Marianas Institute of Filipino CPAs and Accountants, or MIFICPA, last Saturday during the organization’s “Accountants Nite” held at the Ocean Palace Shark’s Fin Seafood Restaurant.

Also elected were Lemuel Arabelo of Triple J Saipan Inc. as vice president-internal, Cristoper Lubi of Ernst & Young as vice president-external, Razel Trinidad of Hard Rock as secretary, Reena Trinidad of World Tour Travel as assistant secretary, Malou Luisa Pasol of Micronesian Marine as treasurer, Grace Sandler of Hertz as assistant treasurer, Rommel Espinosa of Cargo Express as auditor, Noel Dizon of Triple B as business manager, and Marlon Estigoy of Hafadai Beach Hotel as public relations officer.

Lito Santos of Pacifica Insurance and Ia Villar of Telesource CNMI were also elected to the board of directors.

Outgoing president Anabelle Ramos of Ernst & Young also joined Nhing Brillo-Reyes, also of Ernst & Young, Verizon’s Leriza Debrum, Construction Material Supply’s Melvin Malvar, Saipan Shipping Co., Inc.’s Jun Banadera, and Tan Holdings Corp.’s Glicerio “Eli” Arago as advisers of MIFICPA.

MIFICPA celebrated 10-plus years of existence with a dinner and a presentation on the updates of the U.S. CPA Review Program.

There were also a lot of fun activities, which included special presentations and even a “MIFICPA Idol” singing contest won by Teresa Samson of BSEA. Over 60 accountants in the CNMI attended the event.
