I was amused to hear that Harry Blalock chose to make P magazine, a new monthly publication on the islands, the subject of his weekly attack against the administration. Blalock’s complaint was that the magazine is excessively pro-Babauta and it’s reporting “sloppy.” This from a guy who makes it a point to bash our governor every week and who selectively reports facts to suit his agenda. Sorry if that offends you, Harry, but many of us choose to support the governor in this year’s election. Not everyone is blinded by your weekly spin.

In last week’s jaded commentary, Blalock readily admits that during the last election, the governor was attacked in the Saipan Tribune. Why then would it be so unreasonable for Babauta supporters to counter those attacks in another publication? The local media, Blalock’s radio show in particular, continue to interject personal opinions into their reporting. It is unfortunate that there is no mainstream media in the CNMI that fairly presents the facts. It seems that all of the publications seem to have a political agenda. But I highly doubt, as Blalock would have you believe, the governor is personally behind this new magazine.

P magazine doesn’t purport itself to be a publication centered around the pressing issues faced by the CNMI. In the first edition, editor Aldwin Fajardo explains that the intent of the magazine is to provide a more lighthearted look at the people and places of the CNMI. I appreciate this fresh perspective. But because Blalock has associated the magazine with our governor, he chooses to label it propaganda. Come on, Harry!

It is no secret that Blalock has it out for the governor. Only a few weeks ago, he was ranting that the governor excluded himself from making a public announcement. Grow up. Get that chip off your shoulder and concentrate on making a real difference in the CNMI.

By the way, I enjoyed reading the article on our Most Rev. Bishop Thomas Camacho on P magazine’s first issue.
