The Northern Mariana Islands Track and Field Federation is coming off organizing a successful meet featuring athletes from Saipan, Tinian, and Rota, and extends its appreciation to all who supported and assisted throughout the qualifying time trials and the finals of the McDonald’s All Schools Track and Field Championships.

“The [NMITFF] extends it appreciation to all involved in one way or another in the McDonald’s All Schools Track and Field Championships and the qualifying trials leading to the finals,” the federation said in a statement. “There were so many who put in much time and effort in assuring that the meet would be a success for the over 700 students who began their quest at the beginning of April.”

The NMITFF also extended a special recognition to McDonald’s Saipan owner Joe Ayuyu, who committed to sponsoring the event and in doing so, “put a smile on many young faces.”

Others who also assisted the federation in organizing the event were PREL, the 14th CNMI Legislature, the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs, Division of Sports and Recreation, Department of Public Works, Saipan Mayor’s Office, Marianas High School JROTC, and Safety 1st.

“We would also like to recognize the presence of Rep. Ray Tebuteb, Father Dondon, DCCA Secretary Juan L. Babauta, Saipan Mayor Juan Tudela, Miss CNMI World Tracy Del Rosario, 2004 Miss Liberation Queen Leiana Ogumoro and 2004 Miss Liberation Princess Sarah Igisaiar, local artist Alfred Saures, and all the hard working volunteers who joined together in providing a positive venue for the youth of the Commonwealth to showcase their skills, learn the true meaning of sportsmanship, and build friendships,” NMITFF said.

Also deserving of credit were all coaches and parents “for their effort in shaping the lives of our young athletes.”

“You all deserve recognition and we’re blessed to have received your helping hands,” the federation said. “Special recognition is also extended to the coaches, parents, athletes, and supporters from Tinian and Rota who made the trip to Saipan to join us.”
