The Pepsi King and Queen of the Lanes Tenpin Bowling Tournament will return for its monthly roll-off this tomorrow and Monday, May 8 and 9, at the Capital Bowling Center.

The May edition of the bowlfest will have a 4pm start on Sunday and a 6pm start on Monday and is exclusive to members of the Saipan Bowling Association.

SBA officer and tournament director Ross Zapanta said participants have the option to bowl on the Sunday or Monday, or on both days, provided that the $15 entry fee is paid. Bowlers who did not bowl on Sunday will be given priority for the Monday shift.

He also said the number of bowlers will be limited to 72 players on Sunday and 56 on Monday. Only the higher score will count for the tournament. The men’s champion is guaranteed $100 in prize money but it could go up to as much $150 depending on the number of participants.

The purse for the women bowlers, meanwhile, will depend on the number of lady bowlers that roll-off in the tournament. Zapanta said at least 10 lady bowlers are needed for SBA to come up with a monetary prize for the division.

The Pepsi King and Queen of the Lanes Tournament aims to crown 12 monthly champions through the course of the year.

Cash prizes will be up for grabs in the monthly tournament, which alternates between Saipan Bowling Center and the Capitol Bowling Center—two of the premiere bowling venues on island.
