Decherong completes basic training
Private First Class Loma Linda Decherong of Saipan can now proudly wear the distinctive pin signifying a soldier in the U.S. Army after completing 14 weeks of intensive and challenging military training that included Basic Combat Training and Engineer-specific military skills training.
The U.S. Army Engineer School held its One Station Unit Training graduation ceremony for Bravo Company, 35th Engineer Battalion, 1st Engineer Brigade at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, last April 29, 2005.
During her training, Decherong received exceptional marks and commendation from her drill sergeants for exemplifying strong leadership skills, competency and discipline in training.
“The training, which stressed teamwork, discipline, and values, was grueling and challenging at times, but I was glad to experience and complete it, and am now ready to move to the next level,” said Decherong.
After spending a couple weeks back home in Saipan, Decherong will return to Ft. Leonard Wood, which will be her duty station where she will receive further training in her assigned military occupational skills.
Decherong is the daughter of H. Decherong and Lutmina DLG Cepeda Decherong.
Traveling to attend the ceremony was Office of the Resident Representative to the U.S. staffer Herbert M. Yamada, Jr. on behalf of Resident Representative Pete A. Tenorio.
“Pvt. Decherong joins the ranks of many of our young men and women from the Northern Marianas who volunteer to serve the people of the United States and to safeguard our freedom,” said Tenorio.
