While people throughout the CNMI are intertwined through family ties, working relationships, and sporting events, the Marianas Visitors Authority plans to use all three to gather the community together during Tourism Month, and is inviting everyone to participate in the annual Ayuda 5K Fun Run.

The run is open to runners and walking enthusiasts alike, and will be held on the islands of Saipan, Tinian, and Rota, beginning with the first Ayuda Fun Run this Saturday, May 7, on Saipan.

Participants will start from Kilili Beach Park and head toward Triple J Motors before circling back to the finish. The following week will feature the Ayuda Fun Run on Tinian, where the run will start from Taga Beach Park, and proceed to M&F Corporation before the turn around.

The people of Rota get their chance to participate on Saturday, May 28, when the run will begin from Rota Leadership Park to Songsong Nicolas Bridge and back.

The MVA coordinates the annual event on behalf of all of the non-profit organizations in the community that will benefit from the run—the CNMI Chapter of the American Red Cross, the Make A Wish Foundation, the Tinian Manamko Center, and the Rota Junior High School National Forensic Team.

Organizers see the Ayuda Fun Run as an excellent opportunity to bring the people in the community together while raising money for worthy causes.

The cost to take part in the activity is $15, and applications may be picked up at any MVA office, and race day registration will be open from 5:15am to 5:45am at their respective locations, with races starting at 6am.

There will be cash prizes awarded for the top three overall winners in each of the 12-and-under, 13-19, 20-49, and 50-and over categories.

“We encourage everyone to dust off their running shoes these coming Saturdays and participate in not only the run, but other fun-filled events our office has planned for the month of May in celebration of Tourism Month,” said Vicky Benavente, MVA managing director.
