Las Vegas tourism guru to hold 5-day seminar

The Hotel Association of the Northern Mariana Islands, in coordination with the Northern Marianas College, will be holding a five-day seminar starting Monday next week about hotel management, which will be facilitated by a resource person from University of Nevada Las Vegas.

Dr. Andy Nazarechuk will be discussing the following topics at the seminar, called Executive Hospitality Training Program, to be held at the Aqua Resort Club from 9am to 4pm.

* The role of the manager in increasing customer satisfaction (Monday);
* Creativity and brainstorming processes (Tuesday);
* Working as a team, and teambuilding processes (Wednesday);
* Project management methods (Thursday); and
* Strategic Planning, marketing and customer service management (Friday).

Nazarechuk obtained both his bachelor of science and master of science degrees from the William F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration at UNLV.

After graduation, he worked for seven years as director of catering and convention services at the Sahara Hotel and Casino, which, at that time, was one of the largest facilities in Las Vegas.

In 1986, Nazarechuk opened the catering and convention facilities at Tropicana Hotel and Casino. From 1993 to 1999, he was director of UNLV Hospitality Research and Development Center, which serves as the research and service representative of the hotel college.

HRDC offers information and expertise in all aspects of hospitality and casino management, and specializes in training sessions.

During his tenure in HRDC, Nazarechuk led and participated in a wide variety of hospitality development projects.

He earned his doctoral degree in Educational Leadership from the University of La Vern, CA in 2001.

Nazarechuk regularly consults and conducts training sessions for hotel managers on a wide variety of human resource management, casino and international topics..

He also recently created a new course at UNLV that focuses on cultural behaviors in the tourism industry.
