Darson Camacho kept the Ol’Aces off of the bases in a complete game shutout that only lasted five innings to move the Comets into tie for second place in the Big League standings Thursday night at the Francisco M. Palacios Baseball Field.

The big-time Big League pitcher made the Ol’Aces look like old ladies as Camacho fanned 10 out of the 19 batters he faced, allowed just two hits, and dominated the batter’s box with a variety of speed and movement.

On the other side of the field, the Comets racked up 12 runs off of 10 hits to win the mercy-shortened affair, but three quarters of their offense came in the top of the second inning when they went Anatahan with nine runs off of five hits.

The Ol’Aces didn’t help their cause early in the game, as they supplemented the Comets’ output in the second inning with four walks, an error and a wild pitch. Pitcher Greg Arriola threw a strong first inning in which he allowed one hit, but lost his control in the second before losing the hill to reliever Charles Mesik when he gave up a hit and three walks to the first four batters.

Jonathan Villagomez led the streaking Comets around the bases with a perfect 3-for-3 performance that landed the centerfielder a single, double, triple, two scores, two runs batted in, and a stolen base.

First baseman B.J. Nicholas followed with a stellar 2-for-3 outing that yielded a single, a double, three ribbies, two stolen bases, and a run scored.

Tuesday’s pitcher J.P. Sablan dominated the Braves from atop the hill, but the talented player did his damage with a bat on Thursday, as he went 2-for-4 with a pair of base knocks, two stolen bases, a plate crossing, and a run batted in.

Second baseman Gary Cruz got into the action as well, but was only able to record a single in a 1-for-1 outing because ha was walked twice. Cruz still managed to notch a run batted in a stolen base, and two runs scored on the night. All in all, the Comets should have an arrest warrant ordered for their base runners, as they totaled six stolen bases in the five-inning fleecing.
