Ball cruiser Freddie Pelisamen of the Ghasias Brothers was as explosive as Anatahan.
The multi-sport phenom went all out in Tuesday’s edition of the World Organized Rocball Community League and accomplished a feat that only several players experience since the sport was created in 1979.

Pelisamen scored in every possible way and finished not only as the game’s heavy hitter, but the first Master Blaster for the season. He connected for two aces, a xunk, four kees, two goals, and a jam for a whopping 21 points.

With Pelisamen firing away, the two-time defending champions Brothers breezed past Just One, posting a lopsided 65-29 victory in the evening’s opening match that also featured both teams combining for seven goals.

The Brothers dominated from beginning to end, scoring a 16-6 win in the first set highlighted by two goals, followed by a 16-5 win in the second for a commanding 32-11 lead in the overall tally.

The Brothers continued to pound away in the third set and widened their lead with another easy win, 17-6.

Just One tried to stage a comeback and force o-kon with a stronger charge in the fourth set as Robin Sapong and Jerry Jones each connected for a goal, but their push came a little short as the Brothers closed the match and juiced out with a 16-12 win.

Ben and Jacob Pelisamen also had solid outings with 16 and 12 points, with Ben punching in two aces, three kees, and two goals and Jacob hitting three aces, a xunk, and two kees.

Anson Jones led Just One with eight points on an ace and three kees.

Just One players were determined, though, to avenge their loss and took the Brothers to the limit in their second battle before faltering in double o-kon, 70-54.

Riding on momentum from their first match, the Brothers picked up where they left off and cruised to 17-6 and 18-3 wins in the first two sets.

Just One battled back and managed to break above the 10-point mark in the third set, but still faltered as the Brothers refused to give ground, 16-13, for a 51-22 lead.

The Brothers, however, had to win the fourth set to end the match, but weren’t able to capitalize on the opportunity as Just One dug deep into their energy pockets and stayed alive by forcing o-kon with a 17-8 win.

Just One continued to pull the right strings and quickly put the pressure on the Brothers when Sapong crushed a shot past the Ghasias defense and into the goal to end the first o-kon set, forcing a winner-take-all second set.

Their streak, however, ended as the Brothers recovered and barely squeaked by with an 11-9 clincher.

Ben Pelisamen emerged as the game’s heavy hitter with 19 points on four aces, a xunk, three kees and a goal while Bill Kaipat and Freddie Pelisamen supported with 15 and 14 points. Kaipat was good for an ace, a xunk, four kees, and a goal while Freddie went for an ace and six kees.

Sapong led Just One with four aces, a xunk, a kee, and a goal for 15 points while Johnson and Jerry Jones each had four kees for eight points.
