HJHS honor society induction on Saturday

The Hopwood Junior High School Middle School’s annual induction ceremony for the Hopwood Junior High School Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society will be on Saturday, April 16, 2005 at 7pm at the Grand Hotel.

To be eligible for membership consideration, students must have a cumulative grade point average of 85 percent. Additionally, potential members must meet high standards of leadership, service, citizenship, and character. Members of the 7th and 8th grade classes were evaluated by the Faculty Council.

Leadership is based on the student’s participation in two or more community or school activities, or election to an office. To meet the service requirement, the student must have been active in three or more service projects in the school and community. Citizenship is measure by the student’s participation in civic-related organizations and/or activities. Character is measured in terms of integrity, behavior, ethics, and cooperation with both students and faculty.

Students are screened by the Faculty Council consisting of five members of the faculty chosen by the principal. This year, 39 students are being considered for membership.
