Sobriety checkpoints set

The Department of Public Safety’s Traffic will be conducting sobriety checkpoints on March 4, 2005.

The first setup will be on 16 Highway, Chalan Kiya by the Commonwealth Utilities Corp. waterloo. This operation will start at approximately 8pm and will be terminated at approximately 9:15pm.

The second setup will be on Beach Road, Chalan Laulau by Char’s Store. This operation will start at about 10:30pm and will be terminated at approximately 11:45pm.

Each checkpoint conducted will last at least 75 minutes (1 hour 15 minutes) at each location. This activity is part of the Department of Public Safety’s efforts to deter and detect and ensure that all vehicle occupants are protected.

In addition, traffic officers will be conducting highway criminal interdictions, saturation patrols, aggressive driver interdictions, and laser activities.
