Students vie for Model of the Year titles tonight

Mt. Carmel School’s Freshmen Modeling Club, in cooperation with Hotel Nikko Saipan, will gather 24 young and vibrant candidates for the 2005 Mr. and Ms. Model of the Year contest, to be held tonight at 6pm at the Hotel Nikko Theater.

Twelve females and males from ninth grade to twelfth grades will vie for the coveted titles, which include Mr. and Ms. Charity, Mr. and Ms. Photogenic, Mr. and Ms. Friendship, Mr. and Ms. Flawless, Mr. and Ms. Fashionable, Mr. and Ms. Close-up Confident Smile, Mr. and Ms. Telegenic, Best Male and Female Personality, Best in Catwalk, Most Poised and Elegant, Look of the Year, Darling of the Press, and the Spirit Awardees.

Four major special awards include best in national costume, sports wear, talent and formal wear. A trophy, crown and cash prize await the winning candidates.

Male candidates are John Michael Villamor, Edward Sablan, Cyd Tribiana, Vincent Aldan, Carl Sumalpong, Paul Ogumoro, Pomakai Aldan, Michael DL Guererro, Richard Kautz III, Jeffrey Che, Jeremy Sablan and Manny Borja.

Vying for Ms. Model of the Year are Mayble Ayuyu, Francine Camacho, Nicolette Villagomez, Michelle Villacrusis, Noelle Lingcaso, Lokje Therese Manalo, Letitia Cabrera, Bona Lim, Charmaine Hofschneider, Caisha Vanna Sablan, Patricia Matagolai, and Christina Palacios.

Guest performers will be Allen Mijares and Cathy Pagapular.

The event will also highlight the pageantry of the CNMI former beauty queens who will walk the runway for a brief fashion show. Galvin and Velma Deleon Guerrero will host tonight’s pageant. Ernie Molina directs the show.

Proceeds from the event will be used for the repair of Mt. Carmel School’s gymnasium and cafeteria. Tickets are still available at the Mr. Carmel School administration office and at the main gate of Hotel Nikko Saipan tonight.
