Theme selected for 2005 Liberation Day celebration
This year’s Liberation Day celebration will adopt the theme “Celebrating Liberty, Peace, and Freedom, Then, Now and Always.”
Liberation Day committee chair Eloy Inos has promised that he and his fellow committee members will work hard to give the public the best celebration.
“We will try to make this a more enjoyable celebration for everyone,” said Inos.
Inos led yesterday’s Liberation Day executive committee meeting at the Office of the Governor.
Aside from Inos, the 2005 Liberation Day committee also includes Antonio Cabrera, Marian DLG. Tudela, Angie F. Sablan, Ruth Coleman, Alfredeo Guerrero, Leila Younis-Boyer, Larry Guerrero, Peding Sablan, Paul B. Reyes, and Bill Torres.
The committee said they are still waiting for site permits from the Department of Lands and Natural Resources and Marianas Public Lands Authority.
Also in attendance was Saipan Mayor Juan B. Tudela. He promised there would be street parties with different themes in the weeks leading to Liberation Day. Tudela also expects more booths to highlight the street fair as well as the military to again participate in the event.
He also said Liberation Day queens would be selected from schools, private businesses, and government agencies.
The 2005 Liberation Day celebration will tentatively start on June 2 and will end with a big festival on July 4. (Marconi Calindas)
