UFO collects 159 boxes for RP relief drive
The United Filipino Organization of Saipan collected total of 159 boxes for its “Sagip Kababayan” donation drive that ended last Saturday.
The Filipino group received the donations for victims of Supertyphoon Winnie, which killed thousands of people when it hit the island of Luzon in the Philippines last year.
UFO turned over the boxes to the donation drive’s official freight forwarder, CTSI Logistics.
The group was supposed to donate the boxes to ABS-CBN Foundation but due to requirements of the foundation, the group decided to forward the boxes instead to the Philippines government’s Department of Social Welfare and Development.
UFO extends its appreciation to the following organizations under the UFO family for their contributions to the donation drive: VisMinda; Samahan ng Manggagawang Filipino; Cabalen; Bayani Association; Samahang Ilokano at Pangasinense; Movers (Leon Agda Jr.); MDX Radio Group; SIR’ CNMI Power; and the CNMI Filipino Community.
The group also appreciated the assistance extended by NAMFREL, SARS Ltd., and KAMPIL.
The group also wants to thank individuals and private companies that supported the donation drive, including CGAS; RP Construction; McDonald’s; Marianas Electronics; Mariana Resort and Spa; and Pacific Trading Co.
The group thanked the generosity of former Supreme Court associate justice Pedro Atalig and wife Nelida for their support and offering their house as a stockroom for all the boxes before their turnover to CTSI.
The donation drive ran from Jan. 8 to 22. UFO also received donations for two Sundays from 8am to 5pm at the 13 Fishermen Pavilion along Beach Road in Garapan. (Marconi Calindas)
