SML readies for upcoming 2005 season
Just a few days after the Hustlers successfully completed their mission to defend their title in the fall edition of the Saipan Major League, the Miller Lite Brewers will soon have a chance to do the same, as officials of the parent league has called for an organizational meeting for next month.
Not wanting to waste any time, league coordinator Tony Rogolifoi announced that there will be a meeting for the managers and coaches of all five confirmed teams in the upcoming SML season to get the ball rolling on another successful season.
On Tuesday, Feb. 8, at 5:50pm in the conference room of the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium, representatives from the Brewers, Northern Yankees, Pirates, and the newly welcomed Toyota Tacoma and the San Antonio Mets will review rule changes, scheduling options, and discus the tentative dates for the start of the 2005 season
Rogolifoi also wanted to inform the community that while five teams are currently signed on for the new season, six would be better.
A place in the standings still remains available for one prospective team, but the window of opportunity is closing soon, so those interested should contact Rogolifoi as soon as possible.
Team officials are also reminded to bring their form of payment for the $1,200 league fees to the first meeting of the new season, and that checks may be made payable to the Saipan major League.
The highest caliber of hardball to hit Saipan is tentatively scheduled to return to Francisco M. Palacios Baseball Field on Monday, Feb. 21, but that all depends on the progress of the necessary repairs to the Oleai facility that were brought about by Typhoons Tingting and Chaba.
