Both Payless Market and Kentucky Fried Chicken were recently issued warning notices after a routine monitoring conducted by Coastal Resources Management Enforcement staff revealed that trash and debris were scattered behind the building.

In a Jan. 5 notice to Yunas Corp.’s vice president Ho Jin Yoon, CRM director Joaquin D. Salas indicated that aside from the trash scattered behind Payless Market, 55 gallon drums containing waste oil were also found not to be in concrete containment berms.

CRM ordered the company to take corrective measures to rectify the problem by placing all drums containing waste oil in a concrete containment berm as well as dispose of all trash at the public dump.

A later notice, dated Jan. 7, was issued to KFC manager Connie Mendiola warning of scattered debris along the shoreline behind Payless.

KFC was also advised to dispose of the debris at the public dump.

Salas said failure to comply with the notice within 15 days from the date of the notice may result in monetary fines of up to $10,000 per day for non-compliance.
