One scholarship slot open
Saipan Mayor Juan B. Tudela, together with the Saipan Higher Education Financial Assistance Board, is pleased to inform SHEFA recipients about the 2005-2006 Bert Thompson Scholarship.
The deadline to submit an application is May 3, 2005 at the Bert Thompson Scholarship Program, Attention: Elizabeth Rechebei, P.O. Box 502493, Saipan MP 96950 or at telephone number (670) 234-9150.
The amount of award is $2,000 annually for two years, and will be awarded to only one high school graduate in the public schools this year.
Applications may be obtained at the SHEFA office or by writing directly to the Thompson Scholarship Program at the address above.
Qualification requirements include U.S. citizenship and residency in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands for at least three years from the date of application; a graduate of any public high schools in the CNMI; accepted by an accredited college or university offering technical/occupational programs, or be accepted by the Yokohama International College of Social Welfare in pursuit of a field in its social welfare program; and at least 2.5 GPA for at least three years at any public high schools in the CNMI, if pursuing approved technical or occupational fields, or 2.75 GPA, if pursuing a field in the social welfare program, including proficiency in speaking, reading and understanding Japanese and enthusiasm to work with senior citizens and the physically and mentally disadvantaged.
