On privatization plans for GHLI

A recent piece written by Mr. William Stewart on the government’s health and life insurance and the Retirement Fund is of such importance to many of our people that I have asked a friend, Mr. Henry I. Sablan, to translate the item into the Chamorro language. This will allow some of readers who do not read the English language to understand what the Retirement Fund is attempting to do to the health insurance and the woeful consequences their plans may have on those who are presently enrolled in the program.

The item will appear in the Saipan Tribune sometime this week only because Mr. Stewart contributes to that paper. While I do not encourage that people read one paper over another (even I have my own preference), the issue is of great importance for every member of GHLI to read and to understand the issues so that they know that plans to fix the program’s problems could just create a catastrophe for many of the program’s present members, especially those who are elderly and who are retired from government services.
