The Marianas Public Lands Authority has approved a request to set up a massage parlor on Managaha Island.

The health massage service will be provided by Mirage Corp. under a sublease with Tasi Tours, which holds the concession to operate business on Managaha.

In a meeting Wednesday, the MPLA board noted that Mirage had been issued a permit to set up a massage facility on the island since April 2004. However, administrative issues involving both the MPLA management and the permit applicant delayed the project. Mirage had to re-submit its request after the permit lapsed.

The new permit will be effective starting Jan. 5 until Oct. 31, 2005.

According to MPLA, the massage facility will be located at the west side of Managaha. No major construction is being planned for the project; rather, Mirage plans to build a temporary tent with which to offer the massage service, MPLA added.

Mirage Corp. is a Japanese-owned company that operates Mirage Massage Parlor in Garapan.
