The American Red Cross NMI Chapter said it will be offering training opportunities to volunteers or residents of Saipan, in line with teaching the public on how to prevent, prepare, and respond to any emergencies.

Red Cross disaster relief courses focus on “meeting people’s immediate emergency needs.” The Red Cross provides food, clothing, household supplies, and counseling, among others, to assist those who are in need to revert them quickly back to their normal lives.

In this regard, Red Cross invites volunteers “to meet the needs of disaster affected communities. ”Our community needs you,” the Red Cross said.

The training sessions are free of charge and are open to all residents or nonresidents. Introduction to Disaster Services Course will be conducted on Jan. 11, 2005, Disaster Assessment Course will be on Jan. 13, 2005 and Family Services: Providing Emergency Assistance will be on Jan. 18 and 20, 2005. All courses will start from 6pm to 10pm.

Call the chapter office at 234-3459 or visit their office at Tun Herman Pan Road for registration.
