A bank sued a woman over a delinquent loan that has grown to over $18,000 due to interest.

The Bank of Hawaii on Tuesday filed with the Superior Court a civil action that seeks to collect on the loan payment from one Angelica C. Atalig.

The bank’s lawyer, Michael White, said that Atalig defaulted on her payment of the loan, which she acquired in February 2001. White said the borrower failed to settle the loan despite demand.

White said the woman now owes the bank more than $18,500, some $7,806 of which represent interest on the loan. White asked the court to compel Atalig to pay the bank.
