During the holiday season, people across the globe set aside time from the hustle and bustle of their daily lives to celebrate faith and family, and the players and coaches of the Saipan Softball Association are no different.

According to SSA president Robert A. Guerrero, the Men’s Island Wide Slow Pitch Softball League has been shelved until the first Monday of the New Year, while the fast pitch league will resume on Tuesday, Jan. 4.

For the first time in recent memory, there will be a quadrupleheader on Monday, Jan. 3, as Buddzz and Fadang will play their final game of the season at 9:30pm following three tiebreakers from the regular season.

The Master Construction Flyers finished the season in first place with a record of 12-1, and La Chai finished in eighth place at 6-7, but the playoff picture is still muddled as there is a tie for second, fourth, and six place.

The first game will get underway at 6:30pm as the Eliminators and Natibu decide which 11-2 team gets the second seed. X-clusive and Brotherhood play in the 7:30pm game that will pit the teams with the 9-4 records in a battle for the fourth seed, and the Island-Mix and Bud Light Chura play for the sixth seed at 8:30pm.

So long as the weather permits, the Slow-Pitch playoffs will begin in earnest on Wednesday evening, Jan. 5 at 6:30pm. The fast-pitch will have to wait a couple more days to gets their post-season activities rolling, as four out of the five remaining teams have yet to finish their schedule.

The foul weather of the summer season forced the D-9ers, Verizon Sluggers, Islanders, and Kagman 1-2-3 to spend more than a few of their game nights at home, and they will begin the make-up process on Tuesday, Jan. 4 at 6:30pm when the Sluggers (5-6) take on the Islanders (3-10), followed by the second place D-9ers (8-3) and the lowly Kagman 1-2-3 (3-10) at 8pm. Only the top four teams will make the playoffs, and after the C-Bees Four bowed out with three forfeited games, Kagman 1-2-3 and the Islanders have a chance at the final slot as they head into their final games.
