High surf advisory out
The Emergency Management Office has issued an advisory urging the public to be cautious when going to Commonwealth beaches due to hazardous surf that is forecasted to remain throughout the week.
“Strong trade winds associated with a weak shear line are producing rough seas, which will bring hazardous surf to eastern exposures of the Marianas through at least Friday,” EMO said in a statement.
Today’s forecast features east wind of 15 to 20 knots, with wind waves of five to seven feet and northeast swells of five to seven feet.
Tomorrow’s forecast sees east winds of 20 knots, with wind waves six to eight feet, while Friday’s east wind will be 15 to 25 knots, with combined seas of nine to 10 feet.
Saturday is forecasted to have east winds of 10 to 20 knots, with wind waves of four to six feet and east swells seven to nine feet, while expect Sunday to have east winds of 10 to 20 knots, with wind waves three to five feet and northeast swell six to eight feet.
“Residents, beachgoers, and fishermen are advised to take precautionary measures while venturing near reef lines for possible strong rip currents,” EMO said.
